Did Jesus Die In Vain

DID JESUS DIE IN VAIN? Galatians 2:21

Introduction Discuss “death of Christ” “Vain” [DOREAN] “without a cause. For naught”

II. IF CERTAIN THINGS ARE TRUE….. If the Law of Moses is still binding, then Jesus died in vain (if under, if binding). The law of Moses was a “tutor” for the Jews UNTIL Christ came. (Galatians chapters 3-4) Just as a woman is free to marry if her husband dies, so the Jews were free to “marry” another when the Law of Moses was fulfilled by Christ. (Romans 7:1-7) When Jesus died on the cross, the Old Law was nailed to the cross, fulfilled, and abolished. (Matthew 5:17; Colossians 2:6-16; Ephesians 2:11-22) If the church is non-essential, unimportant, then Jesus died in vain. Whom will Jesus Save? (Ephesians 5:22-32) Can you exalt the King and not the Kingdom? “ “ “ “ Head and not the Body? “ “ “ “ Husband and not the Bride? Did Jesus make a mistake? Gave himself for us (Titus 2:14) Purchased church with his blood (Acts 20:28) Church is his body (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23) He adds saved to his church/body (Acts 2:41-47) He is the savior of his body/church (Ephesians 5:23) There is only ONE body (Ephesians 4:4-6) IF there is MORE than ONE body, then there is also more Than one “Lord…Faith….God…” (1) (2) If Religious Division is right, then Jesus died in vain There is NO “church of your choice” in God’s word Jesus died to unite ALL (Jew & Gentile) in ONE body

a. “Other sheep” of Jesus were Gentiles. (John10:16) Please study this in context. It has NOTHING to do with denominations. His disciples were to be “one” (John 17:20-21) Jew and Gentile would be “one” in Christ (Ephesians 2:14-16) The inspired apostle condemned the seeds of division in Corinth, which began with dividing under different men. (1 Corinthians 1:10-13) To “denominate” means “to name”, which leads to division This is marked by God as sin. God requires “no divisions”, being of “one mind” If the body is not raised, then Jesus died in vain.

1. Many churches do NOT believe in a bodily resurrection.

2. IF Jesus was not raised bodily from the dead, then we will not be either, and “we are of all men most miserable” (1 Corinthians 15:12-23) We WILL be bodily resurrected. We don’t know what we will be, but we will be like Jesus (1 John 3:2) If I’m LOST, as far as I’m concerned Jesus died in vain

1. The New Testament was written so that we might believe and have eternal life. (John 20:30-31; Romans 10:17)

2. The benefits of Jesus’ death on the cross can only be enjoyed by obedience to him. (Matthew 7:21ff; Hebrews 5:8-9)

3. If I am outside of Christ, Jesus died in vain for me. His Blood is not applied to those that do not “obey that form of doctrine”. (Romans 6:17)

4. “And now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (Acts 22:16) Please, do not let His death be in vain for you!
